Vision serves as our primary sense and commands upwards of 80% of cognitive processing. Over 90% of cortical connections are in some way connected to vision. Vision, the main component of top-down processing, sets the stage for its integration with bottom-up processing, instituted by occupational and physical therapy techniques. Sensory motor integration is essential for vestibular, proprioceptive, and visual input to be incorporated into behavior, which expresses the qualities of each function unified as a whole. This course will enable occupational and physical therapists to have a greater understanding and ability to integrate into practice vision’s role in development, behavior and development of self. Visions connection with Self will be understood as a way to implement therapy through a relevant patient interaction. Participants will leave with practical techniques to incorporate into their therapeutic practice.
