Mental health professionals, occupational therapists, and educators are looking for innovative ways to incorporate strategies into therapeutic and academic settings to help clients develop skills to improve sensory processing.
At Theramoves, we offer interoception training from leading presenters, such as Kelly Mahler. Interoception courses will provide professionals with the opportunity to discover the latest research and learn evidence-based tools to help clients improve their interoceptive awareness confidently.
Interoception training provides the tools necessary to make appropriate behavioral responses to support one’s individual needs at any given moment.
Sensory integration is the body’s mechanism for taking incoming sensory information that the body receives from the environment and producing an appropriate response. The more commonly known senses are vision, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. The proprioceptive and vestibular systems provide the body with information about position sense and how to keep itself upright against the force of gravity.
A lesser-known, but equally as important sense, is interoception. Commonly referred to as the eighth sensory system, this sense provides sensory feedback related to internal body sensations. It includes physical sensations such as feelings of hunger, thirst, and heart rate as well as the experiences of emotion.
Interoception CEU courses are suitable for:

Upcoming Interoception CEU Courses
At Theramoves, we offer interoception CEU courses online, live webinars, and in-person, so you can choose an interoception course that best fits your needs.
Interoceptive awareness training from Theramoves will provide greater clarity on how to discern problems with interoception. An interoception course will also include interoception activities and goals to be used in occupational therapy sessions. This will ensure that you will provide maximum benefits to your clients.
New research has found a correlation between the ability to detect internal body signals and self-regulation, leading the topic of interoception to gain interest among healthcare professionals in a variety of disciplines (Mahler et al., 2022). Individuals with sensory processing disorders, including those with autism and mental health disorders, often experience decreased interoceptive awareness, which impacts performance across many contexts.
Theramoves interoception courses will give you greater confidence in treating clients, as you gain knowledge and learn new skills, including:
Interoception skills include the ability to be aware of one’s bodily signals. This includes an awareness of when one is hungry, when one needs to go to the bathroom, and knowing when one is getting angry.
You can teach interoception skills by doing a variety of mindfulness activities to help the child notice and become more in tune with his bodily signals.
Listed below are some examples of interoception activities that are discussed in interoception awareness training.
These include:
Deep breathing
Mindfulness
Knowing when one needs to use the bathroom
Being in tune to when one is hungry
Regulating emotions
