Dr. Mitchell Scheiman, OD, Ph.D. is a nationally known optometric educator, lecturer, author, and private practitioner. He is the author of “Understanding and Managing Visual Deficits: A Guide for Occupational Therapists”, and Low Vision Rehabilitation: A Guide for Occupational Therapists” published by Slack Incorporated. Dr. Scheiman has a long and close relationship with occupational therapists.
Dr. Mitchell Scheiman’s Work and Achievements
Mitchell Scheiman, OD, PhD, has specialized in vision therapy for the past 45 years. His various roles have included being a national lecturer private practitioner, author, and educator. He also frequently presents at CEU courses for occupational therapists and other professionals.
Dr. Mitchell Scheiman is currently Dean of Research at Salus University and has been part of their faculty for over 30 years. He has written three books for optometrists covering the topics of binocular vision and vision therapy, pediatric optometry, and learning-related vision problems. He has published over 225 articles in the professional literature. Dr. Michelle Scheiman’s vision expertise led him to open his private practice in 1987, which specializes in children’s vision disorders and vision therapy. He also spent many years as a researcher conducting randomized clinical trials which investigated different aspects of vision.
Furthermore, Dr Scheiman is a Diplomate in Binocular Vision and Perception and a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). He also earned the diplomat status in the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). Dr. Mitchell Scheiman’s courses can be accessed on Theramoves.
