Effectively utilizing a movable surface during treatment can enhance the therapeutic level of challenge while maintaining a fun environment for your client. If you would like to learn multiple techniques and when/why to use them, this course is for you! Techniques will cover postural control, head control, balance, general strengthening, and much more. This course includes assessing video clients of varying levels of involvement, organizing and designing effective treatment strategies for children across multiple diagnosis, and a patient demonstration. Many facilitation techniques using movable surfaces will be demonstrated and practiced.
This course will require active participation in labs, as a therapist and as a “client.” Please be aware of your own physical limitations. Loose, comfortable clothing, ideally shorts and tops, should be worn. Please bring a ball suitable for you to sit on at approximately 90/90.
The format will include lecture, integrated with discussion, case studies, and lab practice. The emphasis will be placed on practical applications that participants will be able to bring to their practice.
